Book Review - Girls in Tears

Girls in Tears is the fourth book in the Girls quartet. It's all about love, friendship and everyday life as a teenage girl - and how nothing ever goes your way. One minute you're in love, the next you're fighting with your best friends, sitting alone in the cafeteria. Welcome to Ellie's world.

Ellie and her two best friends Magda and Nadine do everything together. But it's only a matter of time before three teenage girls have a falling out. Ellie's preoccupied with her new boyfriend, Nadine is in love with a boy from the internet and Magda is mourning her dead hamster. With each of them off in their own little worlds, misunderstandings start to happen and the girls go their separate ways. Magda and Nadine one way - Ellie the another.

The coolest thing about Girls in Tears is how the chapters are named. One's named, Girls cry when people copy their ideas, while another is called, Girls cry when they quarrel with their friends. Each chapter title sets the mood for what's to come. It's also super cool how the book sticks with the theme of crying, just like the title says: Girls in Tears. And, it still manages to have a good plot.

Girls in Tears is written by a British author so just like the Georgia Nicolson stories, it's chalk full of cute British sayings. If you're a fan of cutesy love tales and friendship-bonding themes, Girls in Tears is definitely for you. It's a terrific book for summer while you're lounging on the beach or relaxin' in your back yard. The best part is, even if you haven't read the previous three books in the series, Girls in Tears will still be an enjoyable read.
