Don't Blame It On the Music

Music... what is this? For some, its an important and beautiful escape from the everyday - although for most, it is simply a trend. It seems that pop and hip-hop are making an uproar these days, from the suggestive dancing to the profound lyrical style, yet this is what we (the young generation) love and want. The lyrics to almost every song played on the radio suggests something of which our parents would rather not have us hear at the tender age of 14... PLEASE. The music, we hear on the radio, will not encourage us to engage in sexual acts; nor will it give us the idea to go "buy a gun and shoot at a cop."

Parents today want a scapegoat... music is it. They blame the music industry for their lack-luster parenting. If we all try to lay blame on the actions of teenagers today it would be chaos. Everyone is to blame - parents for working 8-12 hour days, so their kids lack supervision, the kids because suddenly they have grown up and developed their own tastes and become their own person.

Parents these days sit in awe of how screwed up their son or daughter is, so clueless to the fact that no matter how much we kids push our parents away, we need them. We need them to love, nurture and provide for us. If a teenager lacks these necessities they turn to alternatives. For teenagers, music is an escape, for the parents it's a scapegoat.
