Lillix Interview (pg. 2)

Dec 27, 2006
Sindy: So, you threw away your first CD?
Lacey-Lee: Well, it wasn't like a full album. We had about seven tracks that we did with two other producers. We didn't really like anything on it. We didn't really like the way it turned out. It wasn't the best representation of us. So, we threw them away and took like a two-month break. Started fresh.
Lousie: Yeah, started fresh. We used a lot of the songs that we'd written before and that we'd recorded before as well.

Sindy: What's the coolest thing you've experienced since you've started all this?
Louise: We got nominated for a Much Music award. That was pretty cool. We don't know how or why we were nominated.
Lacey-Lee: Yeah, we were nominated for Best International Video By a Canadian.
Lousie: It was really cool. We didn't win, of course. We were up against Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan...
Lacey-Lee: And Sum 41.

Sindy: How about your fans? Good feedback?
Louise: Oh... they're growin' by the show.
Lacey-Lee: We experienced our first crying fan the other day.
Louise: Oh yeah! That was amazing.
Lacey-Lee: She was like hyperventilating.
Louise: I know. That was weird, though. You don't think that they're doing it for you. You're like, who else is here? Is there someone interesting? Why do they care about us? We're not even cool.

Sindy: Have you made any crazy purchases recently?
Louise: We got cell phones so we could call our manager, our parents cuz we're never home. That was a big investment for us, I think.
Lacey-Lee: That's about it.
Louise: Yeah, we're pretty lame.

Sindy: Who are your musical influences?
Lacey-Lee: Personally, I listen to Supertramp, Queen, Thin Lizzy, Weezer, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Those are probably, like, my favorites. And the Beatles.
Louise: Yeah, the Beatles. I grew up listening to the Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison. You know, I like Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer and Radiohead. Silverchair. There's another band I was just... Oh yeah, (Lacey-Lee) just told me to get Pink Floyd so I bought Pink Floyd.
Lacey-Lee: Oh yeah. Of course, Pink Floyd.

Sindy: What are you listening to right now?
Louise: I was playing the Pixies today.
Lacey-Lee: I was probably listening to Pinkerton.
Louise: When we walked in this morning Lacey had Weezer blaring. We were like, 'Oh yeah, this is so what Lacey's apartment's going to be like when she gets her own place.'

Sindy: What are the three things you cannot live without?
Lacey-Lee: Oh... a discman and... a journal.
Louise: Yeah discman and journal.
Lacey-Lee: And water.

Sindy: What advice would you give kids who are from a small town, who have these kind of rock star dreams?
Lacey-Lee: It's such a coincidence that we actually got signed.
Louise: So random. I can't believe it. Just work your butt off. Play everywhere you can and stay true to the music cuz if you get sidetracked with the fame thing or the image thing, you're going to be in it for the wrong reasons and you're not going to last because no one cares in, like, ten minutes - you know what I mean? So, just be who you are and write your own music and don't let people tell you to be anything you're not.
Lacey-Lee: Or else you'll regret it.
Louise: Exactly. Hard core.
