Book Review - Stargirl

If you could name yourself anything in the world, what would it be? Susan Caraway chose different names to suit her different moods and when she arrived at Mica High School for the first time, her name was Stargirl.
Stargirl - The Ins and Outs of Stargirl Caraway
Stargirl arrived at Mica High School in tenth grade. She'd been
home-schooled for much of her
life and was like nothing any of the Mica kids had ever seen. She wears long, pioneer-style
dresses, plays a ukulele in the halls and carries her
pet rat, Cinnamon, every where she goes. More importantly, Stargirl
makes people happy. If someone at Mica High gets a good score on their
math test, Stargirl knows about it and
cheers them on in the cafeteria. If it's
someone's birthday, Stargirl knows and strums her
ukulele to the
birthday song beat. But some people are
threatened by Stargirl's carefree,
slightly kooky ways. Soon, they are trying to make Stargirl just like the rest of them - boring,
conforming teenagers.
Stargirl - Stargirl Sends a Message
Stargirl is one
giant life lesson packaged into a really
amazing story. Everyone has experienced the
pressures of trying to fit in, but few people actually manage to
stay true to who they are while doing it. Stargirl shows everyone that the minute you stop trying to impress everyone else, the real you will
shine through. And, that's the person that everyone should meet.
Stargirl - Bottom Line
This book is definitely worth your time. The characters are
interesting and easy to
love (or hate), and it's guaranteed that you won't want to put Stargirl down once you've started. This is an
awesome novel about avoiding conformity and how it's possible to
just be yourself.
