He's the vert champ of X Games X! Kidzworld has the goods on skateboarder, Bucky Lasek.

Bucky Lasek Begins Boarding

Bucky Lasek entered the world on December 3, 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland. His real name is Charles Michael Lasek but his mom has always called him Bucky (which is good, since Bucky is way cooler than Chucky) because that was also the nickname of his father. Bucky Lasek first stepped on a skateboard when he was 12 years old after some chump stole his bicycle. While that thief is probably still stealing other kids' bikes for fun, Bucky Lasek has become one of the greatest skaters on the planet.

Bucky Lasek Becomes Better

Bucky Lasek started entering amateur competitions near his home in Baltimore and entered the world of professional skateboarding in 1990 when be became sponsored by Powell. When skateboarding took off in the late 1990s, so did Bucky Lasek's career. He placed in the top ten in every event he entered in 1998 and won the gold medal in vert skateboarding at the 1999 X Games. In 2004, at X Games X, he also took the gold in the skateboarding vert event.

Bucky and the Boom Boom

Bucky Lasek is now considered one of the world's most creative and consistent vert skaters. He skates three to four hours every day and has invented dozens of new tricks. Lasek won the gold medal in vert skating at the X Games in 2000 and 2003 and helped lead the USA to the gold medal at the 2003 Global X Games. But Bucky Lasek doesn't really care too much about winning medals or comps, he just likes to skate. Bucky's now skating at an arena near you on Tony Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam with Tony Hawk and Bob Burnquist.

Bucky Lasek - Did U Know?

  • Bucky and his wife, Jen, have two daughters named Devin and Paris.
  • Bucky Lasek's hero is Formula One racer, Michael Schumacher, because he "goes balls out".
  • Before he competes, Buck Lasek pumps himself up by getting wired on coffee.

I'm ten.  And almost any trick in the book.  I can do no foot and no hands at the same time, can do over 200 jumps, can go up and down a curb, can go off a curb with no hands, and can do the twister.  Although, today I'm having a mental block with the twister. xD    Oh yeah, and I forgot like the jump within a jump, and the split jump.

Uhmm the only way I think you can convince them is by just telling them you really enjoy pogosticking and then just ask them if they can get ya one. Yeah, I guess so.  But I doubt without persuasion they would get me one.  Those things are a parent's nightmare.  (Lost teeth, broken arm, etc. xD) True, true. Maybe you can make a deal with them? Like, "If I get all A's by the end of the school year can i get this pogostick?" or "If I do yardwork for the next *blah blah blah* weeks can I get this pogostick?" You can butter 'em up before you ask too.   I'm homeschooled. :P
