Something Corporates second CD is in stores now. If youre a fan of alternative rock, find out what Kidzworld thinks of North!

Drive Thru/MCA (2003)

Something Corporate's latest CD, North, is hot off the presses and in music stores near you. This is the sophomore effort for the alternative-rock quintet, who's last album, Leaving Through The Window, first gained Something Corporate fans in 2002.

Something Corporate Gets Something Right

The guys of Something Corporate tried to steer clear of using studio effects on this album, which gives North an authentic live show flavor. It's really refreshing to hear what the band actually sounds like - that way if you like the album, you're not going to be disappointed when you shell out to see them play live. Most of the tracks are pretty catchy and the lead single, Space, is one track that is good enough to get some air play on your local radio station.

Some Things Are Wrong With Something Corporate

This is the album for people who think Avril Lavigne is too hardcore. The lyrical content of North is, by far, the worst thing about this album. Check out this lyric from I Won't Make You: "If I yell at the top of my lungs, will it be the same? I'd fly you a flag, I'd bury this pen into my veins." Huh? He's gonna stab himself with a pen? Umm... okay...

North - The Final Word

If you're looking for edgy, rockin' tunes, look elsewhere. North might be the album for you if your taste is more soft rock than punk rock and, as an added bonus, mom might like it too.
