The chess game has you stumped? No worries, the trick is to wiggle one finger under the board and then sneeze and toss the pieces all over if you're about to lose... oh, you mean in Harry Potter! Ok, here's a walkthrough on how to pass Prof. McGonagall's monster chess sets.

Chess Walkthrough for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Ok, there are three chessboards you have to pass and each one starts with you having to choose either the black or white squares. From there you have to maneuver around the board and use strategy so the other chess pieces flatten each other and not you. Here are three diagrams and instructions for passing the chessboards:

Harry Potter Chess Set #1 Walkthrough

Start the first chessboard on the white square in front of you. Your first move is to step to the right onto the black square, then take a step forward onto the white square. The final move is to move one square to the left onto a black square. By then all the chess pieces will be toast and you can exit from the far side of the board.

Harry Potter Chess Set #2 Walkthrough

Start the second chessboard on the white square as well but step forward onto the black square as your first move. Then move back and to the right onto another black square and finally step forward onto a white square.

Harry Potter Chess Set #3 Walkthrough

The final chessboard is a little trickier, but this walkthrough makes it as easy as falling off a log. Start on the white square again and head forward and left onto another white square. Next go left and forward onto a white square again! Now take a step to the left onto a black square, then another step right onto a white square and then go down one square to end up on the black. That'll solve the final chessboard, now it's time to play with Mr. Quirrell's troll - have fun!
