Ashlee Simpson Interview

By: Sindy

Sindy: Congratulations on the upcoming album!
Ashlee: Thank you so much. I am so excited about it. It is like the coolest feeling, you know. It was just so much fun. I've been doing 7th Heaven for a little while and everything and now I get to have my album and it's really just from my heart and I hope that people like it. I had a lot of fun making it.

Sindy: I really like the single so far.
Ashlee: Thank you so much. Yeah, my album it's got that kind of feel to it, it's definitely rock with a pop sort of edge to it. I'm really excited about it.

Sindy: Cool. So what was it like to have people film you recording your album for your new reality TV show?
Ashlee: That was definitely interesting. The reality show - I chose to do it because it's like a making of the album but at the same time they come into my real life too. And you kind of get to see everything I go through in the process. Sometimes there's stress and sometimes there are these amazing moments. Like, my very best friend, who I went to elementary school and junior high with, lives with me now. And so she is definitely part of it - cuz I get to come home and I'm like a regular teenager, I'm with my friends. And they got to capture that.

Sindy: Do you think it was a harder process having it all taped?
Ashlee: I think there are times when it is definitely going to be harder having it on TV. I think it might have been easier if I had of just kind of gone and done it, but I'm kind of excited because they like captured when I signed my recording contract to all this stuff. Right now I might be like, 'Oh my gosh,' when I go and watch it - cuz it's really hard to watch yourself, especially when it's reality - but I think that at the end of the day I am going to be so excited that I have that footage on tape when I'm older, to look back on and be like 'Oh my God, that's when I signed my deal' or 'That's when I wrote that song'. So I think that's a cool feeling.

Sindy: So have you always wanted to sing?
Ashlee: I have always wanted to sing. I never really believed in myself - I didn't know that I could do it. Then I just kind of did and now I am just so happy with it.

Sindy: What do you like better then - the singing or the acting?
Ashlee: I like both of them. I think that they both have had a really good influence on each other. With singing, I've got to do a little bit of acting cuz I'll have written a song and I have to go back into that moment when I record it and what I was feeling when I wrote it. And for acting - I just love acting - I love being on set and I love jumping into characters. I think that sometimes before I shoot scenes I'll actually listen to music before I do it to get me in the mood. So they have both been a big part of each other.

Sindy: Are you staying with 7th Heaven for a while?
Ashlee: Umm, I'm going to do 7th Heaven for some more episodes but I'm really at this point so excited about my album that I really want to focus on that.

If I had to make simple choice, I'd prefer to live in It's Kind of a Funny Story simply for the people who were held in it. Despite the location setting for the story, I feel as if I could very easily fall for the characters all over again, especially in an even more personal matter. But, of course, if I was  going with a straight up fantasy like everyone seems to be, I'd most likely go with a world like Dorthy Must Die series or Alice in Wonderland. Both being these magical worlds filled with quirky creatures and people, so how could you get bored? Oh, and of course let us not forget the plenty of harrowing fight scenes for freedom from the evil queens and her many brainless followers.

I would live in The Outsiders because it's a classic book. I would love to go on adventures with the gang and read books and watch movies with Ponyboy. (Because I too always believed I was the only one who enjoyed them.) I would love to open up to Johnny because he is such a kind hearted soul.
