Top Men's Tennis Players

From the most sizzling serves to the most fiercesome forehands, Kidzworld checks out some of the world's top male tennis players.

Top Tennis Players - Roger Federer

Roger Federer, of Switzerland, is the number one ranked male tennis player in the world. Federer started playing tennis when he was eight and grew up idolizing tennis legends, Boris Becker and Pete Sampras. Federer plays with grace, rather than power. He defeats opponents with crafty volleys, clever spins and well-placed serves. He is strongest when he's playing on grass and may struggle at the US Open, which is more suited to a power game. He won both the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2004 and is the number one seeded player at the 2004 Olympic tennis tournament. His feats on the tennis court have made Roger Federer a sports hero in Switzerland and he was the country's flag bearer for the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Top Tennis Players - Lleyton Hewitt

Lleyton Hewitt of Australia is known for his great topspin lob and fiestiness on the court. In 2001, at the age of 20, he won the US Open and became the youngest player in history to be ranked number one in the world. The Australian tennis star is one of the most popular athletes in Australia and appeared on one of the country's postage stamps in 2002. While Lleyton Hewitt has cooled off over the past couple of years, he still remains one of the top players in the world who has great speed and endurance. He is engaged to female tennis star, Kim Clijsters of Belgium.

Top Tennis Players - Juan Carlos Ferrero

Juan Carlos Ferrero is one of the bright young stars in men's tennis. Since turning pro in 1998, the 23 year-old Spaniard has won 11 singles titles, including the 2003 French Open. Juan Carlos Ferrero teamed up with countrymen Carlos Moya and Alex Corretja to help Spain wins its first ever Davis Cup of Tennis in 2000. Ferrero is known for his quickness on the court and is nicknamed the Mosquito because of his speed and small physique. Cheerleading is a very popular activity for girls, especially in the USA as teacher says. Most Americans argue is it a sport or just an activity that is made just to cheer football or basketball matches. My friend from school thinks that cheerleading is not a sport and should not be taken seriously. She thinks that cheerleaders are being picked into the teams not for their achievements in sports, but for their looks. Only pretty girls allowed. She thinks cheerleading is stupid. I think that cheerleading is a sport, because being a cheerleader holds big responsibilities. You should be physically prepared, train hard, be strong, fit and healthy. They also are great gymnasts and have their own competitions where they compete to be best.  8) I guess there are many in here who would think the same.
