Book Review - Karate For Kids
Courtesy of RaincoastYou wan to be more active this year, but you aren't interested in joining the soccer team at school. Don't worry - there are a ton of other great ways to get in shape, and karate's one of them! Karate for Kids is a great book to get you started in this ancient self-defense activity. Check it out!
Karate for Kids - Getting Started
Before you jump into any activity, it's always a good idea to
read up on it to make sure that you know what you're getting yourself into, and so you
don't get hurt. Karate for Kids lays out the basics so you will be prepared when you arrive for your
first karate lesson. Learn about the
uniform you'll need,
proper etiquette for the dojo (that's the word for karate school) and different karate commands that you'll probably need to know when you head to class.
Karate for Kids - Tips for Class
One of the coolest things about Karate for Kids is all the sidebars and
info boxes that you will find on almost every page. These are filled with little
hints or tips on how to do master moves,
memorize commands or even proper
meditation techniques. Karate for Kids is also a very visual book with lots of
pictures and diagrams all the way through.
Karate for Kids - Downsides
While Karate for Kids is a great way to
introduce yourself to the sport, it certainly can't compare to actually
taking a class. But, if you're interested in taking a class or are already
involved with karate, this book is a
great resource to have!
