Book Review - Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War
Candy Quackenbush is a normal girl who comes from the tiny town of Chickentown, USA - a place as normal as can be. But, somehow she ended up in the middle of adventure and excitement in a fantastic land called Abarat, a place with magic, an island for each hour of the day, plus one, and strange creatures galore. In Days of Magic, Nights of War Candy has almost gotten used to the Abarat, even the constant running away from Christopher Carrion's evil minions, but she's also finding out that she isn't as normal as she thought.
Magical Adventures in The Abarat
The giant talking bats, dragons, magical princesses, evil witches, horrible monsters and heroes of the Abarat are so full of attitude it's like they're ready to crawl out of the book. Plus, poor Candy is a really cool character who's trying as hard as she can to fit in as a normal person in a not-very-normal place. All she has to do is escape from the minions of Christopher Carrion, the Lord of Nightmares, long enough to find out why everyone in the Abarat is after her and why she can do such strange magic all of a sudden.Nightmares, Monsters and Other Horrible Things
The Abarat is a very strange place and it can be too scary for some peeps. In Days of Magic, Nights of War the bad guys aren't as scary as the first book and almost seem to wimp out, which is disappointing, but it's still a freaky book that's full of cool stuff.The Last Page of Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War
Is this book worth checking out? If you've read the first book of the Abarat, then yeah, totally! If you haven't read the first book, you should! Days of Magic, Nights of War isn't quite as good as the first book, but it's still a great story and loaded with artwork from the author.Days of Magic, Nights of War Rating:
