Eric Koston was born on April 29, 1975 in
Bangkok, Thailand but his family moved to
California when Eric was just 8 months old. Koston first started
skateboarding when he was 11, after his older brother gave him an old skateboard with mismatched trucks. He picked up skating right away and learned
ollies and heelflips by practicing every day in his driveway.

When Eric Koston was 14, he met an old skateboarding pro named
Eddie Elguera, who hooked him up with free
skateboarding gear from a company called H-Street and offered him a job at a
summer skateboarding camp in Wisconsin. Koston realized he was good enough to make a living at skating, so he
dropped out of high school and moved to San Diego to
skateboard full time.
Eric Koston - Street Master
Eric Koston is one of the most well-known masters of
street skateboarding. He's made tons of rad skate videos, he's a character in
Tony Hawks Underground video game and he's designed his own line of
skateboarding shoes from
éS Footwear. Koston has also won several medals for street skating at
the X Games and
Gravity Games.
Eric Koston - S.K.A.T.E.
From June to August 2005, Eric Koston and
éS Footwear are hosting the
éS Game of S.K.A.T.E. Series - an amateur skate comp that will travel to 12 US cities. Winners will compete to win a trip to
San Diego where they'll skate against winners from Europe,
Japan,
Australia and
Canada.
