A Lot Like Love DVD Review
Courtesy of Touchstone PicturesNo, we're not punking you. Ashton Kutcher is back on the big screen, this time with actress Amanda Peet in an adorable new romantic comedy, A Lot Like Love. The flick tracks the twosome, as Oliver and Emily, over the course of the seven years that they've known each other. Read on for the Kidzworld review!
A Lot Like Love - Oliver and Emily
Emily (Amanda Peet) is a
punk chick coming out of a
rocky relationship when she meets dorky Oliver on a plane to
New York. While spending an afternoon walking through the city, Oliver reveals his ambitions of starting an internet company, betting Emily that in six years, he'll be living in a
huge house with his hot wife. She doesn't buy it, saying that he'll probably be jobless and living at his
parents' house! Before
they go their separate ways, Oliver gives Emily his parents' phone number, telling her to call it in six years and she'll find out that he's
become successful.
A Lot Like Love - Three Years Later
Three years after their initial meeting, Emily is out of her punk phase and is an
aspiring actress living in
Los Angeles. When she's
dumped by her boyfriend Peter (Gabriel Mann), she goes through her
little black book to find a date for
New Years Eve and comes across the piece of paper with Oliver's phone number on it. After she calls and discovers that he's
living with his parents (and annoying
sister, Ellen, played by
Taryn Manning), they make plans to meet up that night. Emily brings the now-hot Oliver along to a
glamorous New Year's party where he meets her pals Michelle (Kathryn Hahn) and Gina (
Ali Larter). During the
dramatic evening, Oliver reveals that he's moving to San Francisco the following day to work on his
internet diaper company with his buddy Jeeter (
Kal Penn).
A Lot Like Love - Two Years Later
Two years later, Emily is working as a
photographer and Oliver's business is booming. His personal life, however, is not going so well. His
girlfriend breaks up with him and he goes back to LA to take a breather, only to spot Emily's photography work in a
gallery. The two meet up, and during
breakfast, discover that Emily's supposed friend Gina is now dating her ex-boyfriend Peter. To deal with their
break-up pain, Oliver and Emily
escape for the night on a
junk food-filled
road trip to the desert. The next day, however, they say good-bye again and Oliver heads to New York with Jeeter for a big
business meeting. The big question is...
will they meet again?
