A young kung-fu master joins his brothers in a quest to regain their temple's stolen secrets in the martial arts adventure, Tiger.
Tiger - Five Brothers, One Mission
Tiger is the first book in the
Five Ancestors series - the stories of five 17th century,
kung-fu warrior monks who hold the key to
China's future. Each of the five boys lives at the
Cangzhen Temple, where they are taught one of five
animal fight styles - tiger,
monkey,
snake, crane and dragon. When an ex-monk destroys the temple and kills their beloved
Grandmaster, the five set out on their own to learn about life and reclaim a set of
ancient scrolls. In
Tiger, 12 year-old Fu puts his tiger martial arts to the test and learns a lesson of patience and perseverence.
Tiger - Martial Arts Mayhem
Tiger is a fast-paced book filled with non-stop
martial arts action and even some pretty graphic bloodshed. Reading Tiger is almost like watching an explosive
Jackie Chan flick or playing
King of Fighters on your PS2. In each step of Fu's adventure, he uses kung-fu kicks, tiger hook swords or some of his other
formidable fighting skills to continue his quest. But like any good warrior, Fu's adventure requires more than just superior fighting skills. Fu also learns the importance of perseverence, patience and
mental strength.
Tiger - Bottom Line
Tiger is a great read for fans of
martial arts,
manga or graphic adventure. It's a classic battle of good and evil with plenty of
kung-fu and a few doses of bloodshed, suspense and slap-stick humor. You'll also love the next book in the Five Ancestors series,
Monkey, which has just been released.
