Battle alien monsters and conquer a planet in the Nexus Ops board game! We review it.

What do you do when a world full of super-valuable Rubium, and horrible alien monsters, is found? Take control of the alien monsters and battle for control of all the Rubium! That's what the Nexus Ops board game is all about. If you dig strategy and want to squish your friends' monsters, get the 411 on the game first by checking out our board game review.

Nexus Ops: Monster Battles and Game Basics

This world-conquering game starts off by having each player build the board from bits of different terrain. Then, each player gets Rubium points to spend on troops that you use to find more Rubium, and monsters. If you can get to the middle of the board you can conquer the Monolith and earn Energize cards that power-up your troops. The alien monsters you can use each have different attacks and powers, plus each one works best in certain terrain, so it really pays to plan your battles.

Funky Monster-Smashin' Fun with Nexus Ops

What's nice is that Nexus Ops is an easy to learn strategy board game that gets rockin' by turn two. And turn one takes about 30 seconds. It has plenty of monster battling, plus Energize cards to add random power-ups to the fighting. The best part of Nexus Ops is the Secret Mission cards. You get one each turn and they can score you tons of points for doing weird stuff, so they keep everybody guessing about what's going to happen next.

Getting' Squished by Horrible Monsters in Nexus Ops

The biggest bummer about Nexus Ops is that all the teams are identical. It would have been a lot cooler to have different monsters for each team. Some of the Secret Mission cards are super lame too, but you can trade 'em for bonus Rubium points so it's not too big a deal.

Secret Mission: Nexus Ops Game Summary

Nexus Ops has dragons, power-ups, strategy combat and the chance to stomp your friends into the ground with gross fungus aliens. More variety would be better, but Nexus Ops is still a solid game with lots of monster battles!

The first game came out in 1991  ;) Anyway, I love Sonic! I stink at the games though lol My favorite characters are Knuckles and Charmy And I agree that this is the best single-player game ever!

At least you aren't restricted to TTC/or be only able to try the 3-day trial.  We're actually very lucky now; nonmembers don't give Disney a lick of money. I think Toontown is very different from Club Penguin.  It has a full plot and it's 3-Dimensional.  Also, you don't really do all that much in Club Penguin other than chat and do some mini-missions.  Also, the games were targeted to a different audience... and I feel that Toontown has more memories than Club Penguin; though that may be a bit biased as I don't really have any friends on Club Penguin (LOL), don't really play anymore anyway.
