Batman Begins: GC, PS2 & Xbox Game Review
Courtesy of EABatman is back on the big screen and in a new video game from those lovable geeks at Electronic Arts! The new Batman Begins movie tells the story of how Batman turned from a normal billionaire into a crimefighting billionaire. And, with the Batman Begins video game for the Gamecube, Playstation 2 and Xbox, you can play through all the ninja-training, crime-fighting action! Here's our review.
Fighting Crime in Batman Begins
The game is basically a big
stealth-fest where you sneak around as
Batman and beat up villains. You get some serious
bat-fu moves for kicking butt, a bunch of
bat-gadgets and special moves for the non-fighting stuff. Plus, you can take to the streets in the
Batmobile!
Superhero Action in Batman Begins
The serious coolness comes from putting the
fear of the bat into the bad guys by sneaking around and doing bizarre stuff until they
freak out and panic. Some of the finishing moves make
Batman look seriously hardcore and they're great. You can also unlock
video clips from the Batman Begins
movie as you play and all of the voices are done by the
actors from the movie so they sound perfect.
Supervillains in Batman Begins
The problem with this
video game is that you never get the feeling that you can just cut loose as Batman and do your own
cool stuff. All the really
cool moves are built-in so you can only do them at special points in the game. The interrogation scenes where
Batman scares thugs into spilling the beans are pretty weak too.
Does Batman Begins Save Gotham?
It's not a great game. If you're a huge
Batman fan and need to play it, rent it before you buy it. It has some cool Batman moments, but it's more like watching an annoying
movie where you get to press buttons occasionally than playing a game.
Batman Begins Thumbs Up:
All the voices are done by the actors from the movie.
Scare the bad guys with freaky Batman butt-kicking.
Batman gadgets and toys.
Batman Begins Thumbs Down:
You can't cut loose with Batman.
It feels like you're watching a movie, not playing a game.
