We review the War of the Worlds movie starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning!

War of the Worlds is a classic sci-fi story by H.G. Wells that's all about martians invading and wiping out the whole planet. This new War of the Worlds movie is bringing the alien invasion to a theater near you with Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning and tons of eye candy. Is the invasion from Mars awesome, awful or just plain weird? Get the 411 from our movie review!

War of the Worlds - Alien Invaders and Special Effects

Brace yourself for an eye and ear invasion! The thundering booms of the alien war machines and incredible explosions and special effects in the War of the Worlds are gonna knock your socks off and nail 'em to the wall. On top of the alien invaders, there's also a solid family story going on with Roy (Tom Cruise), Rachel (Dakota Fanning) and Robbie who have to run from the aliens and deal with the whole world getting blown up at the same time. Dakota Fanning is especially awesome, even though she spends most of the time screaming in fear - but wouldn't you too?

War of the Worlds - Saving the World?

A word of warning - this movie can really freak out younger brothers and sisters. It's PG-13 for a gruesome spot or two, plus some totally nerve-wracking stuff and a constant barrage of special effects and alien monsters. Other than that, the biggest bummer is how sudden the ending is. It ends the same way as the original War of the Worlds, but this movie is different and the ending doesn't work as well.

War of the Worlds - DVD Features

The basic War of the Worlds DVD doesn't include too many extras, so if you're looking for a lot of behind-the-scenes secrets you'll want to pick up a copy of the 2-Disc Limited Edition DVD. It's a little bit more expensive, but it's jam-packed with commentary from Spielberg himself, featurettes about how to create alien life forms and much more!

War of the Worlds - Bottom Line

If you're looking for a popcorn-fest of a sci-fi movie, then War of the Worlds is a home run hit. It has freaky aliens, awesome effects, good acting and a whole lot of destruction. The ending is weak, but it's worth checking this movie out even if it's just to chill and watch the aliens stomp around.

I saw the premiere before I left and I have to say, I was somewhat impressed. Of course it's not as good as BMW but I think they have good potential.

I was very impressed by the first episode of Doctor Who I watched which I believe was called "Rose". It was creepy  but with enough of a hint of humor that it made for an enjoyable and interesting program. Me and my dad will definitely be continuing to watch more and more episodes of Doctor Who in the future.

The answer, obviously, is Doctor Who. The show has technically been running for almost 51 years. It's  a British T.V. show about an alien with two hearts who has been living for over 1,000 years, with a time machine that can travel anywhere, or anytime, in the universe. But there's a catch to his machine, which is known as a T.A.R.D.I.S, (Time And Relative Dimension In Space): It is forever broken and disguised as a 1950's telephone box. He chooses not to fix it, despite the companions he travels with wondering to themselves, "Why doesn't he fix it? Why did he have to break it as telephone police box?" He also tends to attempt to keep the companions for as long as possible. They tend to keep him in check, safe, sane, and non-genocidal. After all, being 1,800 years old, and I'm just guessing precisely how old he is, can make you feel lonely, angry, confused, scared, and vengeful. He had to destroy his whole planet to protect the rest of the universe from being destroyed by his people and their age old enemies, the Daleks. He will forevermore remember that day, and as punishment, from the self concious weapon he used, will have to live through for a long, long time.
