Book Review - Eldest
Courtesy of Random HouseAuthor: Christopher Paolini
Take two scoops of The Lord of the Rings, one scoop of Harry Potter and then pitch in a handful of dragons who want to see what all the noise is about. That's what you're getting with the novel Eldest. It has a ton of classic fantasy stuff from elves to dwarves, wizards, dragons and even a villain with a funky name - Galbatorix. Here's our review!
Eldest - Inheritance Trilogy Book Two
Eldest is book two of a three set series by the
young author Christopher Paolini. While the first book was about the young
Eragon learning to be a
hero and save the day, this book is all about him learning to use his
new powers. He travels to the land of the
elves to study
magic and
sword fighting while the rest of the world gets ready to have a huge war with the evil Galbatorix's Empire.
Eldest - Heroism, Elves, Dragons and Magic
It's not as fast-paced as a
Harry Potter novel, but
Eldest does a great job of keeping you turning pages because it makes an entire
fantasy world come alive. From the incredible details of the dwarven empire, to a forest full of elves and an incredible story of
bravery,
responsibility and growing up, it's an incredible book. It also has lots of
battles so if you like hearing stories of
fantasy wars, check it out.
Eldest - Villains, Urgals and Horrible Monsters
The biggest problem with
Eldest is that there isn't a lot of
action. It's a whole lot of
Eragon taking classes in sword fighting and magic from a bunch of
elves so, unless that sounds cool to you, it can be a pain to read.
Eldest - Bottom Line
If you dig
fantasy novels, it's a
terrific, if slightly slow, book. Christopher Paolini's writing is full of fantastic details and
tons of imagination. If you really dig it, check out book one in the series,
Eragon, and get ready for the
third book and the
movie!
