Courtesy of NintendoThere's nothing quite as cool as goin' for a walk in the Hoenn region of Pokemon Emerald. Until some chowderhead zooms past you on a bicycle and scores some wicked air as he races up a mountain to an area full of new Pokemon that you can't get to! Wouldn't it be sweet if you could get a bike and do that too? Well, with this walkthrough from Kidzworld's handy Cheat Street, home of all the game cheats, hints, tips, codes and secrets you'll need to win at your fave games! Check it out.
Bike Walkthrough in Pokemon Emerald
To get a
bike in
Pokemon Emerald (and
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire too!) you need to hustle your butt to
Mauville City. It's the city that's near the
center of the
world map. To get there, head up from
Slateport City and take the right path. You'll have to battle lots of
Electric Pokemon that can paralyze your
Pokemon so bring along some Earth Pokemon and paralyze cures. You'll also have to battle
May on the way to Mauville City.
The first thing you should do in Mauville City is get the Coin Case. Then, find the Pokemon Center and head right. You'll find the Bike Shop. Head in, talk to Rydel, and he'll give you a free bike! But, there are two bikes, the Mach Bike and the Acro Bike, which one should you take?
Pokemon Emerald: Mach Bike 411
The Mach Bike is a
speedy bike that's a little hard to steer! But, its
high speed lets it do some cool stuff. Here's what the Mach Bike can and can't do.
You can ride up muddy slopes.
You can cross cracked floors.
You can go really fast!
You can't cross white bars.
Pokemon Emerald: Acro Bike 411
The Acro Bike isn't very fast, but it's great for
getting air. Here's what it can and can't do.
You can pop a wheelie.
You can hop around on it by holding down B and pressing in a direction.
You can hop up rocks.
You can cross white bars.
You can't go up muddy slopes.
You can't cross cracked floors.
The Best Bike in Pokemon Emerald
Good news and bad news! The bad news is that there is
no best bike. The good news is that, no matter which bike you pick, you can always come back and swap it for the other one. So, grab whichever bike you want and go
have fun! Just make sure you get the
Mach Bike when you go to capture
Rayquaza, you'll need it to cross the crumbling floors in
Sky Pillar.
