Book Review - Gender Blender
Courtesy of Random HouseAutor: Blake Nelson
Gender Blender is a book about two sixth graders who switch bodies, but that's not the interesting part. The two used to be friends when they were younger but as they got older they went their separate ways. This book is all about what they learn about each other and the opposite sex. Find out if Gender Blender is worth a read!
Gender Blender - Girl vs. Boy
Tom Witherspoon and Emma Baker don't
like each other but Emma does like the cutest guy in the sixth grade, Jeff Matthews and Tom likes Kelly Angstrom, the most
beautiful girl in the sixth grade. But, during
health class Tom and Emma are paired up together to do a report on gender
differences. Obviously the two don't like it but one day when they're jumping on a trampoline, they bump into each other and
switch bodies,
Freaky Friday-style. This is when they start to deal with each
other's problems.
Gender Blender - Different Bodies
Tom and
Emma have to learn how to deal with a lot of things in their new bodies. They have to switch
families, friends and lives. The two have to learn to pee, Tom has to learn how to
put on a bra, and both of them have to learn how to
get along with the other's friends. Through all of this, Emma finds out what Jeff is really like and
Tom gets a chance to see Kelly in the
P.E. changing room. Confused yet? Don't be. All these
mistaken identities make for a real
page-turner.
Gender Blender - Friendship
While in
each other's bodies, Tom and Emma realize what the other
gender has to go through. They also realize what goes on in
each other's lives. Tom
realizes how busy and
complicated Emma's life is and Emma learns how complicated Tom's life is but will they ever
switch back to their own bodies?
Gender Blender - Bottom Line
You'll totally
relate to Gender Blender because it's a funny and
interesting read about the trials and tribulations of
growing up. If you enjoy books that have comedy,
adventure and a great plot twist, then you'll
enjoy this one! It's a quick, fun book that's
a great alternative to sitting around watching more re-runs!
