Mega Man Powered Up: PSP Video Game Review

We review the portable gaming action of Mega Man Powered Up for the Sony PSP!
Courtesy of Capcom

Mega Man, the robotic blue bomber, is a heroic lil' dude who was created by Dr. Light to be all helpful and friendly. Then the evil Dr. Wily steals a bunch of robots and makes them evil. Jerk. Now it's up to you to save the day by clobbering the bad guy robots in this video game for the Sony PSP! We review the action, right here.

Powering Up With Mega Man on the PSP

Mega Man has been clobbering bad guys since the original Nintendo and the action hasn't changed much. Basically, there are a bunch of boss robots and each one has a level - once you beat the level you get the boss robot's funky weapon. Mega Man Powered Up adds three new things to the game and here they are.
  • Challenge Mode - 100 mini-games for you to play!
  • Play as the Bosses - Unlock them and you can play as the bosses.
  • Level Editor - You can make your own levels!
  • Wicked Gaming Action in Mega Man Powered Up

The basic running, jumping and shooting action of Mega Man Powered Up is rock solid and looks great, complete with super-cute giant heads. Being able to unlock the bosses and play as them is awesome, especially since each one has different moves and can get into new areas. If that isn't enough, you can make your very own Mega Man game levels and show 'em off to your friends or swap 'em online!

Mega Man Power Problems on the PSP

The biggest problem with Mega Man Powered Up is that it's a fairly short game, except for the heap of mini-games. But, you can't play a bunch of the mini-games until you unlock the bosses and that's hard! Playing as the bosses is weird too. They're cool but they can be frustrating to use.

Mega Man - Power Up or Power Off?

Take one old-skool video game, add a bunch of fancy new options and pack it onto the PSP. Sha-zam! You have an excellent video game. Mega Man Powered Up is loaded with gaming fun and is totally worth checking out, especially if you've never tried a Mega Man game before!

Mega Man Powered Up Thumbs Up:

  • You can play as the bosses!
  • Challenge Mode = lots of mini-games.
  • Design your own levels for your friends to play!
  • Mega Man Powered Up Thumbs Down:

  • Playing as the bosses can be frustrating.

And really, children under that age should not be playing M games! -_- (Kids these days...)
