Going solo isn't easy - but Pharrell and LeToya think they're up to the challenge. Kidzworld takes a look at the debut efforts of two music veterans who are looking to assert their individuality!

Pharrell - In My Mind

Best known for producing hits for Kelis, Britney Spears, No Doubt, Destiny's Child, Mystikal, Justin Timberlake and way, way more (not to mention as the lead singer and drummer of N*E*R*D), Pharrell Williams has launched his first solo album. With that kind of resume, Pharrell has some serious expectations to live up to - and In My Mind doesn't dispoint. Guest appearances by Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Kanye West and more, are only icing on Pharrell's tasty album.

Pharrell - In My Mind Fun Facts

  • Pharrell has said he hopes this album reflects the practice of "universalism and individualism," explaining that he wants people to realize "there are just so many things you can do."
  • In My Mind was leaked to the internet on July 14th, 2006 - 12 days before it was released.
  • The song Mr. Me Too by The Clipse featuring Pharrell, was originally supposed to be on In My Mind but will now be on The Clipse's new album Hell Hath No Fury.

LeToya - LeToya

Not to be outdone by her former band mates, LeToya has launched her first solo album since leaving Destiny's Child. LaToya, who co-wrote two of Destiny's Child's biggest hits - Bills, Bills, Bills and Say My Name - shows off her mad writing skills once again on this album. She wrote all but one of the songs! If there's anything to criticize about the album, it's that it doesn't really break away from the Destiny's Child sound. Overall, this is an upbeat R&B album that will have you dancing your summer nights away. Watch your back Beyonce!

LeToya - LeToya Fun Facts

  • LeToya will tour with Mary J. Blige to promote her debut album.
  • The album was produced by Bryan Cox, who has worked with Kelly Rowland, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Brandy and many other R&B singers.
  • Luckett was featured on Slim Thug's album Already Platinum, which was produced by Pharrell and his producing partner Chad Hugo. It's a small world, isn't it?

It included a lot of mature themes and it really connects with today's older youth. You mean violence wise? Not just that, but the show tells the stories of the characters finding themselves. Take Asami for example. A lot of people have a late relative and another relative involved in some kind of trouble. She had her relationships AND family business to take care of, which relates to some of today's youth who feel like they have the whole world on their shoulders. They're starting to have to take responsibility for things they can hardly manage, and seeing the triumph of a character like Asami is truly inspiring. Her mother's dead, her father's in prison, her boyfriend was stolen from her, and her business nearly failed. But she did not give up, which sends a positive message to today's generation of teens. Mako was not stolen from Asami he just chose Korra and everyone knows that thats what people wanted. As messed up as that sounds its the truth.
