Sony Playstation 3 Launch – Lineups, Muggings and Madness!
Hardcore gamers started camping out in front of stores, lining up to be the first to buy a
PS3, two weeks before it came out! With only
400,000 Playstation 3 consoles for all of
North America, getting one was tricky and stores had to hand out numbered bracelets and get
security guards to keep gamers under control as they lined up by the dozen. Stores hooked the patient gamers up with
free food and
entertainment. Even so, people
budged in line, there were
fights, one guy got
shot by robbers in front of a
Wal-Mart in
Conneticut and there were
muggings in a couple
PS3 line-ups! It was a
crazy launch for the new system - find out which
games it can play.

PS3 games you can play with the new console.
Nintendo Wii Launch – Party Time in NYC!
With over
one million Wii consoles ready at launch, and parties in
NY, LA and other cities, Nintendo was ready to deliver the gaming goods. The line-ups were much smaller than the
PS3 ones and didn't start until a day or two before the console went on sale! The
first Wii went to
Isaiah Johnson from
Bronx, NY at 12:01 on
Sunday, November 19, 2006 and then it was party time for Nintendo fans. The only bummer for gamers who grabbed the
Wii was that some of the
Wii Channels weren't online. Here's a list of the channels and when they're coming.
