The 2004 World Surfing Championships will be held in Ireland.

Grab your board and head for the waves - a great series of kids surfing events is coming to Europe this summer. The water there may be a little colder than in California or Hawaii - but there'll still be plenty of waves to rip into.

The Quiksilver Grommet Series for 2001 kicks off in Saltburn, England on May 19th. This surfing tour will run between May and August at four regional centers around Britain and Ireland. The series has two divisions - under 14 years old and under 16 years old. The top four from each division then go on to the national final at Newquay, Cornwall in August. The top surfers from each region will also win gear from Quiksilver and a chance to be noticed by possible sponsors.

The top two finishers at the final in Newquay will win a trip to Bundoran, Ireland to watch the Quiksilver Masters World Championships. The Masters event will feature the world's top surfers including Kelly Slater and Mark Richards. If you win, you won't just be watching - you'll also get a chance to show your stuff to the world by riding the waves in a special Grommet Expression Session. You may even get to be on T.V. because Nickelodeon TV will be covering the event. You can enter the 2001 Quiksilver Grommet Series by filling out an official entry form in Wavelength Magazine or most surf shops.
