Dread Pirate Board Game Review

If you're in a piratey mood and crave high-seas action, adventure and fun, look no further than the Dread Pirate board game! It's an easy-to-play game for up to four players that has each of ye scurvy sea dogs racing around the board, raiding each other, trading jems for gold and trying to collect the most treasure. There are also random event cards, each with a bit of pirate trivia on them - like which pirate kept a cookbook with over 100 recipes for rat, which pirate chewed his way out of a hangman's noose and more. It comes in three versions and here's the 411 on each.

Dread Pirate Board Game - Old Century Edition

Coming in a gorgeous wooden treasure chest with a deluxe cloth map, sculpted metal pirate ships, cloth bags to keep your booty, gold dubloons, colored glass jewels, dice and more, this game is awesome! Bummer it costs $100.

Dread Pirate Board Game - Bookshelf Edition

Built like a wooden book, this version fits onto a book shelf like a big pirate tome. Inside is a cloth map, sculpted metal pirate ships, cloth bags to keep your booty, gold dubloons, colored glass jewels and dice. It's a bit less deluxe than the Old Century Edition, but for half the price!

Dread Pirate Board Game - Discovery Edition

The cheapest version looks a lot like the Bookshelf Edition, but it's made of cardboard instead. The map is cardboard too and the ships are plastic, not metal. The biggest bummer is the lack of cloth bags for storing loot! But, for $30 it's still a sweet game.
