Harry Potter Video Games by EA
It's time to practice your Quidditch skills and pick out your favorite broom. Harry Potter is coming to a video game system near you and he's bringing Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with him.
The brainiacs at Electronic Arts (EA) have been under a spell of secrecy about what they've been doing lately. Now the spell has been broken and the news is out. They're making Harry Potter video games! Before the end of the year you'll be able to explore the magical halls of Hogwarts, run from Peeves and steal late night snacks from the kitchens.
If you want to play in Harry Potter's world you're going to need either a PC, a Playstation, a Game Boy Color or a Game Boy Advance. The action for the PC and the Playstation look like it's going to be Tomb Raider style. You'll be looking at things from behind Harry's shoulder and everything is going to be 3D. It's not going to be a wand-toting, enemy blasting, killing frenzy though. It's going to be a puzzle solving adventure full of magic and trickery. You'll probably be more worried about being caught sneaking around the school after hours than worrying about huge three-headed dogs eating you.
The Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance versions are probably going to be a bit different. They can't handle the graphics that a Playstation 2 or a computer can so the 3D graphics aren't going to happen. It'll probably play more like a Zelda game or maybe a side-scrolling adventure.
There's also an upcoming Harry Potter card game, like the Pokemon, MLB Showdown 2001 or Magic games. The card game is being created by Wizards of the Coast. They're doing the Harry Potter roleplaying game as well - it's kind of like the Star Wars roleplaying game but with a Hogwart's twist. Check back for more news as it develops.
