Are the massive attacks and crazy moves of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the PS2 and Nintendo Wii any fun? Here’s Gary’s game review!

The most famous anime fighters in the world are back for more as Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo and more than 100 DBZ characters show up in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii! Gary got his anime-fu on and joined the huge-haired warriors for a whole bunch of screaming, shouting and unleashing of massive energy blasts. Here's his Dragon Ball Z game review!

Battle Basics

The classic anime series has been transformed into another fighting game. This one has more than 100 different characters to control and hundreds of battles to fight as you play through each character's story. It's basically a chance to grab your fave DBZ fighter and beat the gooey green snot out of everybody else with super-fast attacks and incredible ki blasts!

Super Saiyan!

The good news is that the controls are easy so anybody can play, and there are tons of levels and battles to play as you explore the entire Dragon Ball Z anime story from the very beginning through to Cell and beyond! There are also multiplayer options for you and a friend, and the Wii lets you control the action by swinging the Wiimote around like a maniac.

Screaming Freaks

One minor downside of this game is that its name is a tongue-twister. Then you hit the action - the controls are sloppy, especially with the Wii, and the camera is frustrating. Fortunately you can beat every opponent in the game with one simple move, which makes passing the levels super easy. Unfortunately the story is really weak - with ho-hum graphics and bits missing so only hardcore DBZ fans will understand it.

Mwa-ha-ha or Boo-hoo-hoo?

If you like Dragon Ball Z and the idea of controlling more than 100 characters through hundreds of battles is your idea of fun, then grab this and enjoy. Just be warned that it has clunky controls and opponents that are only slightly smarter than your butt-sniffing, toilet-bowl-drinking dog.

Thumbs Up:

  • More than 100 DBZ characters.
  • Simple attacks and combos.
  • The story mode is huge and packed with battles.
  • Thumbs Down:

  • The levels look huge, but you can't really go far.
  • The controls are sloppy, especially on the Wii!
  • You can clobber all the computer opponents with one move.
  • The game name is a tongue-twister!
  • Game Rating: 3

    Available for: Wii, PS2.
