I really liked the first book, this trilogy is what really got me hooked in the utopian and dystopian fiction. I didn't like the 2nd book, but suffered through it anyways, and now, I tried reading the third book but wasn't interested, just because I really don't like Xander. I also was starting to get annoyed at Cassia, too. But, overall, I really liked the books that I've read. I feel like Condie could have done better, maybe changed a little here and there, but I really like Matched. I'm not looking forward to the movies though, whenever authors make movies to go along with the book, it's like setting themselves up for failure. You know the movies will never compare to the book format. Whenever I hear the movie is coming out, I lose respect for the author, because I know, somewhere, they're thinking about all the money they're raking in. I just hope they try the best with the movies, get some new fresh actors, put much detail into it, and make it long. Please, I don't want another Hunger Games movie/book failure. I can totally see it now. Cassia wearing a pink dress instead of a green one, her eating pie instead of cake, the airbus looking like something out of a horror sci fi film. Uck! Ok, sorry for my little rant there.  smile

I'm a bit worried about the movie because 1. Disney won the rights to the movie in a bidding war, 2. they don't capture all the details, and 3. They might mess up the cast. I also wasn't sucked into the second book like I was with the first and last, but over all I give the series 4 stars and I hope the movie isn't all kiddish and for the young adult audience.

I read the first book and liked it but I started the second and I just couldn't continue. The story seemed too forced.

John Green is my spirit animal.

EXACTLY. I think that was the struggle with both Twilight, and The Hunger Games. They didn't want to make it too mature, but they didn't want it to be too childish and phony. I think that these books are for teens, and mature young adults. Therefore, the movies should be at the level for young adults, and not sugarcoating anything for the kiddies.
