I want to read the book Act of Valor. It was based on the movie which was based on true events about the U.S Navy SEALs. I REALLY want to read this book, but my parents don't want me to cause they fell its too grusome. Yes, the movie is to some people, but a book can not be. How can a book be grusome?! help me?! How can I convince my parents to let me read it?

I didn't think any parent would ever try to forbid a child from reading a good-quality book about things like that. Maybe you should try to show them how mature you are now that you can handle it by talking to them about it?

Books are quite commonly more gory than the movie. My mom has kept me from reading books because she's afraid they will terrify me. If you talk about it with your parents and respect their judgment on the subject they will see you as more mature and possibly see you as more capable of handling the book.  Again, the book is based off of true events, you will be reading about real events that involve real people from real war. What you will be reading will won't be some fiction story. It will be based off of historical fact.

unless your parents are cool and laid back, i dont think you have a real good shot convincing them. but, if u really wanna read it, u could try talking to them and think of ways that it could be used as education for the future or something along those lines

To be honest , It actually depends on what your parents want you to read. It may be an adult book , but who knows what could happen.  I hope this is useful to you though.
