well cheerleading is not a "game". what about track?! there are no balls in track but it is still a sport, an olympic sport too. In fact horse racing, Nascar, and several other SPORTS don''t involve a ball either.
To say that something isn''t a sport unless it has a ball Is a close-minded thing to say. Tere are lots of sports that don''t include ball. one of them is cheerleading. First though you must define a sport
Your definition of a sport seems to be: A game that uses a ball, and that is played on teams.
The dictionary definition is: something demanding phisical ability, that is competitive, and which often played on teams. (but not always)
cheer leading demands A Lot of phisical ability. Have you ever seen their preformances. They do an amazing array of jumps, flips, and twists. sometimes it is just sickening what they can pull off without hurting themselves. and there are many ways of getting hurt that most people don''t contemplate (think about). It is easy to twist an ankle or sprian a wrist. these are common injuries that happen all the time. but did you ever consider what would happen if a person was thrown high into the air, does a flip but then is not caught by her/his team mates. lets just imagion she was 7 feet in the air, and she landed hard on her back.....Thats a broken back. If she landed on her head, a neck injury or a crackd skull could result. yeah... not a pretty sight. these seriose injuries happen very rarly, but they definutly do happen.
just like in hocky youcan get your teeth knocked out, or being crushed by an onslaught of heavy football players.
Also, cheerleaders do compete against other schools!!!! I, myself was surprised to hear this but it''s true. It''s all true.
Chearleading is not only a sport, Its a dangerouse sport. much more so than golf or bowling. if you can call bowling a sport ( jk of course it is =} )
