Perhaps this is more of a personal thing from my /TS/ thing but an Out Of Character board for planning might help. Instead of posting an RP in the main threads and having it SHUNNED, a planning board with suggestions and character applications could clean things up a little. As in... [Herp derp this is a Roleplay planning thread: Accepted characters: Mary Sue Gary Stu] Generally it just seems a lot neater, and it won't clutter the actual RP posts. OOC boards can be used for future shipping, ideas, and updates if needed by other RPers.

I like the idea, but I feel like it'd be too much trouble for something so small. I used to have a *fantastic* RP with some good friends... We just planned ON the post where the RP would be, and then when we were ready, started it on the same post. EX: ROLEPLAY POST! Planning Planning Planning "Okay, are we ready to start?" "yep!" In an OOC board you can put down ideas for all sorts of roleplays. So instead of them just fizzling out if no one is interested people can comment on the idea and help fix it up. If people enjoy it they post their characters there and plan relationships and plots and ask general OOC things there. It is essentially just planning. It wouldn't clutter up the main RPing board with other info and useless posts.

That is a good idea, but most people on this site aren't into overarching plots and development. I have one game with a plan and end in mind, but so far I have a bunch of "Dark, mysterious loners who use illegal magic" avoiding each other and being perfect at exactly fighting and whatever I happen to throw. I'm about to just say "Swarm of bees" just to see what happens. Too bad most fight scenes here are "Player A kills everyone".
