people have the preconceived notion that "dubstep" is just WUWUUBUBUB wankery, not knowing that it had an artistic origin back in the 90s in the underground UK scene. it has unfortunately been submitted to partyfest theme to what it is now known as brostep or american dubstep (the WUBWUB stuff).
fortunately, a new wave of this genre has emerged in recent years, creating what we know as "future garage" or what some critics refer to as "post-dubstep".
i highly suggest checking out these quint-essential albums by various artists to get an understanding of what these genres entail (funny enough, a lot of them are self-titled)
