Do you think that children who play instruments will do better in school?
I play an instrument [viola] and love it. turns out I am also at the top of my class. do you think this has any thing to do with my instrument playing. the handbook I got said that children can be smarter with instruments.i really love playing it. But, they might decide too take instruments away from the fourth graders next year, because it costs too much money. I know I am safe because I already do it now. some of the people in the school district do not believe that kids become smarter if they play some sort of instrument. But this May not be completely true, because I have seen plenty of smart kids who don't play istruments. I do believe that instruments make children smarter but some people don't.

Statistics show that any form of the arts can help a student in school, not just playing an instrument. I play the viola, also.

I think it might help them perform better at school work a little 'cause of motivation, self-esteem, etc. I don't think it actually makes you magically smarter, though.

Yeah because I'm in orchestra and play the violin.

A students student who studies the arts, any of them, does better in school & their brain develops more than a student who does not take any of the arts.

I personally think that that is a pretty far stretch, though it could be true. Also, keep in mind: I have never played and instrument, nor have ever really desired to, but I am at the top of my class as well.
I think it truly depends on your ability to focus. Its pretty awesome though, that you can juggle schoolwork and instruments. I dance, but thats after school.
