It is the most severe punishment our government offers(to my knowledge) it is given to the worst criminals. But, is it effective in its purpose to punish and deter crime? Is their some other purpose for its use in our legal system? Is it necessary to even have this in place? This debate is based on all forms former, and current procedure of the death penalty in the United States.

I believe in the guillotine to be quite honest. I strongly advocate for capital punishment, especially for those who commit treason. I don't believe in prison because it is basically a garbage can for useless people, it is a waste of money and resources. Capital Punishment should apply to any act that intentionally harms/kills someone. Harm as in serious harm, not something silly.

"after ten years of hard prison, a man is lost to the people's community anyway. Thus what to do with such a guy is to put him in a concentration camp or kill him"

I firmly believe in this statement. ^

But whether or not it's effective? I think so, it works better prison.

I believe that Capital Punishment should be given to those who betray their folk or commit atrocities to someone else's folk (in their land of course, this excludes the NSD, as warnings were given prior to the so called "atrocities".)

I also believe in these camps but that may be to triggering to talk about.

"You will not replace us"

feels bad man...

they will...

To be honest I couldn't care more than the next guy about how cruel it is. I know that states might use methods others look down upon. Thought it is said that tax payers also have to pay a certain amount for each execution. I believe that that is possibly unfair but I don't see a reason in shutting down this operation simply for this reason.

Most who commit these crimes normally have multiple or serious crimes under their belt. Being in prison isnt really a great way to punish thoughts who commit crimes in the extremes. They normally do their time and walk out just to commit another crime which lands them bAck in. The cycle doesnt always necessarily repeat.

One of the most common counter claims is what if the guy was innocent and we ended his life. We could have simply let him out and gave him a slap on the back of we imprisoned him. But not with the death penalty there's no way back from that. Well in this situation I got to say to bad for that guy. I know it's harsh and if the time comes when I'm innocent of a crime and I'm facing this punishment I'll probably be scared. Doesn't change the fact that it keeps killers from getting back out into the community and repeating the same cycle.

Ive even heard the argument that death is to quick for these guys. That we should ban the death penalty because it's a mercy that now we have the lethal injection it isn't worth it anymore. They would be a harsher punishment to let them sit in timeout at a well guarded say care for a long time.

All I'm saying is it hasnt not worked, and that's not a reason to ban it. Of course when it comes down to it everything could improve. But we are going to have to wait for that day to come when we achieve a perfect world.

It's absolutely effective. There are no repeat offenders.

However, I do not think it is a just punishment. Our court systems only require guilt to be proven beyond reasonable doubt.. However, the unreasonable still can occur. If it is ever found out that a criminal was falsely convicted, we can let him out of prison. This is impossible if the criminal is killed.

I completely agree what would you have to say to those that think it is morally wrong. That if maybe we gave the benefit of the doubt to these criminals. That they could change, and improve their lives. I mean I know that some prisoners do find redemption in death. Or even having time to reflect on crimes makes them realize their wrongs. Just because they are sorry do they deserve more of a chance to live than the absolute psychopaths that are even proud to say they killed people before. Loved the experience itself

I for one think is kinda pointless, and effective at the same time, since prison can be living hell for a prison who done petty things like theft or minor assault dwi or something along that range, but death penalty seems to be more effective upon the psycho murders who would refuse to change their murderous ways..

Well not a lot of petty theft charges get the death penalty. But, even though it's legal state wise in Colorado to sell ######### The death penalty is given per X amount of plants. But that is federal laws that's where it kinda gets complicated. I watched a documentary on how state laws and federal laws can kinda find themselves at each other's throats. But, this was used as an example because a man owned a store where you can buy different strains of ######### He told the man who I interviewed him for the documentary federal wise. He was to be given the death penalty over one hundred times. So I don't kow any other examples of things below murder and the obvious that I cant type because the filter. But, yeah most crimes worthy of this punishment are worthy or at least in my opinion of the death penalty.

Warning: Because I am an indecisive mess, this post is an indecisive mess. I'm sorry.

Brutal topic.

Do I think the death penalty is effective? Clearly not, considering how full our prisons are. People are still committing horrible crimes knowing full well what awaits them. I don't think those who willingly bring pain upon others are afraid of such a harsh punishment. I do think that it's the easy way out for them, since they won't have to suffer with the consequences of their actions, not truly. You are no longer suffering once you are no longer living.
Perhaps we just need to do it more gruesomely and often.

Its purpose and necessity conflicts me. It doesn't work as well as everyone would like it to (I use the words "work", "well", "everyone", and "like" loosely). I love the idea of there being less criminals on this earth, but I also dislike the idea of death being what rids them (I'm too sensitive, I know).

Do we really  need this penalty? Sure. If it wasn't in place, we'd have an even worse jailing system (and arrangements). And whilst I don't think fighting fire with water is the option in a circumstance like this, I do prefer the idea of eradicating those convicted of harsh felonies. You know, eye for eye, I guess. If justice needs to be served, serve it.

So here's a more understandable rundown of my thoughts on this (which I guess I could have just said initially, but whatever): I "like" the idea of killing criminals. I don't like the idea of people dying. Two wrongs usually don't make a right. Sometimes they do.
