Cinco de Mayo literally translates from Spanish to the Fifth of May. It is celebrated both in the U.S. and in Mexico, mostly in the town of Puebla. It commemorates a crew of Mexican farmers and soldiers fighting off French invaders. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in Puebla with fireworks and other Mexican pride festivities. In the U.S. it's become a day of drinking tequila.

It is a very public holiday, anyone can celebrate it. Most Mexican Americans and Mexicans have parties and celebrations.  The French invaded in around Eighteen-Sixty-One along with Spanish and British troops, who moved in to Mexico to protect their interests, as the Mexican president was not paying his debts. After French Emperor, Napoleon III made it clear that what he really wanted to do was put a puppet leader in Mexican office, Spain and Great Britain withdrew their men. The actual Battle of Puebla took place on May the Fifth in Eighteen-Sixty-Two.

Thank you for explaining and I was meaning the public holiday is the day where theres no school or work for anyone in the country.  Was the Battle won in one day and I has heard of Napoleon but not this battle or celebrations day before
