Should deaf people get cochlear implants? No! Say what you think. I luv sign language and Deaf culture and am totally against cochlear implants! I think it destroys Deaf culture.

So you'd rather thousands of deaf people with the opportunity to gain hearing to stay deaf, just to keep sign language popular?

It is sad not to love, but it is much sadder not being able to love.

I am inspired by Deaf culture. I also think cochlear implants destroy Deaf culture.

I think like hugebear said,it's really their choice. But I think that it could be a good thing because deaf people they can hear someone say to them 'I Love you' or hear birds sing and all that other good stuff. I mean, if I was deaf, I would be desperate to FINALLY hear someone but again, that's just me of what I think. I'm kinda with you on this one, it does break the culture but again, like hugebear said, it's their choice Big Grin

I agree with Huge, it's up to the person on whether they want to get them or not. Not being able to hear is a big thing, and hearing is a main part of your life, I think they're great, because they will bring back a huge part of life back, even if it means potentially 'destroying' deaf culture. Sign language & deaf culture will always be a big part of this world, even if either aren't here or used any more.
