Apparently as far back as we can go catholics were there until martin luther bout a few hundred years ago argued with them and made a new religion. So catolics have been here the longest and they are over 2,000 years old... im glad i am part of the church...!! =]

pre-paganism and pagans were here before catholisism. and before that the religions of ancient egypt and other countries that we probably don't know about were here. its good to be proud of your religion but yours isnt the oldest.

I love Catholicism. I was seriously considering going to seminary school and becoming a priest. Sadly, my rational nature makes it impossible for me to believe in such a God...

The gods of ancient Egypt and Sumeria are the oldest that I'm aware of, aside from some crude harvest goddesses found in caves & other such neolithic hotspots.

exactly, and it is these dipictions of a goddess that are beleived to be the early recognition of the wiccan/pagan goddess. also there was a man with a stags head in these caves, which can be related to pan the pagan god of the earth.

That's true. There are many different "pagan" traditions, though - do you believe these are all reflections of one basic "Mother Goddess" (or whatever you want to call her)? I ask only out of curiosity.

Wicca never really interested me, but I think that's because I'm male, heh.

well, i beleive that most of what the different religions have found is all connected in some way. and being a male has nothing to do with whether or not you're intereted in wicca. there are male witches as well as there are female. gender isnt a factor.

It is for me! That's not the only reason, of course. I don't really like the imagery and philosophy behind it, but that's just personal preference.
