No, It was not Hitler that ran it all down, he just did not have the power to complete his task. Germany vs Russia, USA, England, bits of France, not to mention ditch efforts of smaller countries.
All Germany had significantly was Japan, which was taken out quick fast and in a hurry with H-Bombs. And Italy...well, they weren't efficient enough for war. The only self supplied things they could provide was aluminum. And then smaller countries like Romania and Hungary which did not make a major impact. Now, The German Army was skilled no doubt about that, just the Allies were too much for the Axis.
