The title of this discussion is "Suffering is caused by..." You need to fill in the gap and tell me (us) what you think causes suffering. Here is what I think: God created us so that we'd seek happiness. Consequently we're seekers of happiness. Therefore if we do not or can not complete the task we were created for i.e. reaching happiness , we become miserable. So the goal is to reach a state of never ending happiness. If we're not happy we suffer because we're unhappy.  We cause our own suffering because of our ignorance of the reason we were created for. Suffering is the lack of joy. What you think???

I think even people who try to seek happiness suffer, I believe all people suffer at some point in their life and to a certain extent.  The way I see it, suffering could caused by external factors or the person himself, if its caused by the person himself than its brutal.
