fact! large part of why it's cheaper to get a big mac than it is to get a salad is... the government! thanks to the farm bill, which gives huge subsidies to growers of feed crops for animals (and very small, if any subsidies to veggie growers) it's cheaper (i the short tear at least) to make the unhealthy choice!

Pizza was invented in naples! strawberries are a hybrid plant. a cross of Fragaria virginiana from eastern North America and Fragaria chiloensis from Chile  bananas wer first domesticated in Papua new guinea (probably) Kiwis are also known as chinese gooseberry!

What I don't know, I learn. Ackee is also known as blighia sapida. The scientific name honours Captain William Bligh who took the fruit from Jamaica to England in 1793 Guavas are high in soluble dietary fibre, making it a bulk laxative! (also making it great for reducing the risk of bowel cancer)

It's called actinidin, it's an enzyme that digests protein (like in meat and dairy) it's also in pineapple, banana, mango and papaya. It'll only do it if you eat a fair amount of it, if it does it all the time or your tongue swells a bit you're probably allergic. The bird came first. the name "kiwi fruit"came about for marketing reasons in the 1950's. Chinese gooseberry was the original name.
