Minecraft is quite a unique game. The only limit is your imagination. There are tons of things to do, and it is a really good value for money. There is always a new goal to set yourself once you have done something, and the sense of reward and achievement you get when you do things like build your first house, or step back and gaze in wonder - as you build that giant fortress you have always wanted as a kid.
However, I must say, the game is WAY more fun when playing with multiple friends. You can help each other out and share in your creations. Not to mention your options are even more opened up when playng with multiple people.
Overall, I think that while the Single Player is pretty fun, it can get pretty boring playing by yourself for a very long time. But if you want the best experience, multiplayer is really the way to go.
I'd give Minecraft around about an 8.8/10
