Alekhine is right in this case. The market is what makes the video business. It's only the dedicated developers that will make a certain genre because, that's all they know how to make. For example, Turn 10, the developers of the Forza Motorsports series, will continue to make Forza because, that is what they do best. Polyphony Digital, the developers of the Gran Turismo series, will continue to make Gran Turismo because, that is all they know how to make. 

The other developers such as Ubisoft, Capcom, Namco Bandi, Electronic Arts, etc. can make some platformers, racing, and fighting games they won't lose that much money from it like EA makes Need For Speed. Ubisoft makes HAWX a fighter jet game. Namco Bandi makes Tekken. They are all great games, except Need For Speed (yeah, i'm a hater but, I don't care. It truly does ####.#
