You were fairly certain today would have been a normal Sunday. The morning brought clear weather. A normal winter chill, with nice, crisp blue skies and not a cloud in sight. The bare trees swayed slightly with the breeze, and everything was at peace.
You planned to maybe spend time with family or friends, maybe to see a movie, maybe to just lounge around the house today. It was a day of tranquility. Until you spotted something. It was behind your house. It glinted in the bright sunlight, a greenish-blue color. You expected it was some kind of gem and, curiosity getting the better of you, you walked up to the rock with great caution. It seemed harmless enough, so you reach out to grab it, thinking maybe it would earn you some cash or just a nice little decoration. Before your hand came within grasp of the gem, however, you felt a sharp pain spreading throughout your skull, until it became unbearable, and you collapsed on the ground, blackness consuming you.
When you awake, you're in a room. Not just any room, but it is what you expect to be a hospital room. Except you're strapped by bars to a metal cot, and you're relatively positive that you're not alone. You can hear murmurs and pained groans of others. Where are you? Why are you here?
