It's my One Year Anniversary with my mysterious condition and I'm getting tired of not even knowing what it is. I've met up with 5 different doctors and none seem to help much. The first said "Seasonal Allergies", which is untrue seeing as my mysterious condition survived Spring, as well as Winter, Autumn and Summer; the second said that it was Cough-Variant Asthma judging from the history of the condition; the third said that there was just something struck in my throat and the coughing is just my body's reflexes trying to get it out (but why would it try to get it out for a year?); and finally the fourth and fifth doctors had no idea what it was, seeing as the test results showed clear. I had taken a blood test and I had an x-ray on my chest and ribs. Nothing was wrong. But the tests were delivered 4 months into the condition, so I'm not sure what my fragile body is like now.
I have very confusing symptoms, actually. One day you could think I have Asthma, and the next you could think I have Tuberculosis. I'm not as close to figuring it out as you are. Without further ado, I shall present you my strange and long list of symptoms I have, in time order:
1) Coughing - It started when I moved into my new house on the very first day. I have three cats and one dog, but I have no allergy symptoms. I am not allergic to anything at all. When I coughed, they were chesty hacks that made my sputum dark yellow - most of the time. It's dying down now, but whenever I hear a cough or someone say the word 'cough', it's all in my mind and I have to cough again. It was worse at night time and it caused my next symptom...
2) Insomnia - I cannot sleep. At all. I haven't even slept for 24 hours straight as I'm writing this now. It's really hard to sleep when your ribs are tightening and all of your muscles literally feel like bruises. They hurt so much, and it's no help as I have to walk up a steep hill 5 days a week.
3) Migraines - The coughing goes up right into my head and tightens the muscles in it, causing severe headaches that you would call migraines. I get sudden throbbing feelings in my head that times perfectly with my heartbeat.
4) "Asthma" Attacks? - P.E is horror for me. I used to be very athletic, playing football, basketball, dodgeball and whatnot, but running for 5 seconds straight will cause me to breathe heavily and leave me the sensation to faint. It's hard to breathe both in and out, and it's difficult to explain the tightening of my ribs as I break down. When I have these "attacks", I cough extremely hard, causing bloody sputum, dizziness, headaches, a moment when I act like I'm unaware of the world (blonde moments), and uneasiness to breathe. I do not produce a wheezy noise when doing so. I just breathe very loudly. As for when I cough, it's not a whooping cough sensation.
5) Heavy Night Sweats - Are girls supposed to sweat in the head, pits, arms, torso, legs and neck every night? Even with the blankets off and the heater off I still sweat a lot. It's another reason why I can't sleep because it's like I peed in the bed.
6) Genuinely Feeling Unwell - Two out of five days for school, I am sick. And I'm sick of it. I get the usual morning illness and all, but I have to get off the bus to puke those mornings. I have a healthy diet.
7) SHOCKING Loss Of Weight - I'm your typical happy-go-child who loves to pig out on the biggest dishes and use her fast metabolism to her advantage, but how on Earth does a girl who eats a bowl as big as something your dad would normally eat lose weight all of a sudden? I'm underweight and my mum is worried about me because she can feel my bones and I think I can feel them sticking out. My fat goes to my thighs, though, and they're a bit large, but I'm a twig. Like Twiggy. I don't know WHY I'm losing weight.
Ok guys, so this is basically my really long description of what has happened last year. Me and my mother are so tired of pondering about this, especially my mum, who is annoyed of constantly getting different items from the pharmacy. The blue and brown/dark brown inhalers don't work (and somehow the doctor is giving me this again...?), the nasal sprays don't work and the pills don't work either. I don't know what else will. As a history for my parents, my mum gets panic attacks and my dad had bronchitis, so he had to give up flying his jet because of it.
If you are willing to help me, please feel free to ask more questions. I'm going to see two specialists in two months but my mum is tired of waiting. It hurts me. If you think you know what is wrong with me, which would probably confuse you just as much as it confuses me, please at least find me some similar conditions, as the iTriage app has a lot of conditions on the list that I definitely don't have. Thank you for your support if you help.
