I see you have clicked on this link meaning, you did it in a dare, a bet for 20 dollars, you are bored, you actully want to train your dog, or if you are getting a puppy soon and want to know what to do! 1. Always have a hand signal. And example of a hand signal is lowering your hand when telling your dog to lay down. This helps because when you don't want to have to say the command you can just do the hand signal to get your dog to do what you want. 2. Start out doing the training in a quiet room where there is not much that your dog would be intrested in or distracted by. This helps because if you have a puppy or are just now training your dog, so it can consentrate on you. You can move into more populated areas (areas where there is more people, toys, ect.) once your dog undserstands the basic tricks. 3. Start out with your basic tricks - sit, lay down, heel, come, stay and no. Once you get these done and your dog understands them well, you can move onto tricks like shake, play dead and more. 4. Use treats your dog enjoys, so that when he/she does the trick right and you reward them with the biscut (or whatever you are using) they know they did it right. 5. For about the first 7 times your dog does a trick right give him/her a treat. After about the first 7 times begin to give him/her treats every other time, then every five times, ect. until he/she doesn't need treats at all! I hope this helped! You're welcome! Shake (Doesn't need hand signal) What this trick is: Just like we do, this trick teaches your dog to raise his/her paw into the air (Requiring you to grab their paw if they do it like this) or to put their paw in your hand and shake your hand. How to train a dog to do this trick: The way I got my dog to learn this trick, was by saying the command then taking hold of their paw and shaking it. I did this until my dog understood that when I said "shake" that they should put their paw in my hand and shake hands - or in this case hand and paw- with me. Play dead What this trick is: This trick is where your dog flops on it's back when you say play dead, so that it apears the dog is dead. How to train a dog to do this trick: This trick can be a bit hard to teach a dog, but with patience and practice your dog can learn how to master this funny trick. What I would do to train a dog this trick is to say "Play dead" then nudge them or gentally push the down onto their backs or side. Keep doing this until your dog understands what to do. More: There is another form of this trick that I call "Bang bang!". This trick is like play dead, but instead you make a gun with you hands, point at the dog and say "Bang bang!". Once you do this and if your dog is trained to do this trick they will fall over, pretending to be dead.
