Do you mean Indian like from India or Native Americans? (If you mean native americans) Probably because Texas has accepted them and hasn't forced them off their land.

Yes - I know the OP is a month old, but jeez guys all of you are wrong. First off, Texas is nowhere near the Bering Strait. That'd be Alaska...There are so many Native American cultures thriving in Texas because of this little thing called the Trail of Tears. We sent all the Native Americans from their homes to Oklahoma (before it was called Oklahoma) in an act called relocation. They obviously just expanded south in to Texas.
