Dear Diary,
My name is Adelaide I am 12 years old, I don't speak mostly because at the age of 3 I was told I will never be able to hear. So I lived most of my life with out making a sound, I communicate by writing and sign language but i usually just sit in the corner all alone. Everyone at school thinks I'm strange, I have heard them in my mind. I can read lips so I know what they say. They say I am a loner, that I am mysterious, that I am not able to do anything but sit in the darkness and silence of the cold air. When I write I feel normal, like a real girl, but outside of my paper and pencil world I'm different.

Dear Diary,
This morning I woke up and I could see the sun shining I thought "Maybe today will be better." I went down stairs got my usual breakfast, Cheerios, milk, a banana and OJ. I wake up before everyone because I rather to be ready while my brother rushes to get to the bus. I got back up stairs and got dressed, brushed my teeth and woke up my cranky sister. She seemed to look red and upset this morning. I can't hear he crying but I could tell she was not ready to wake up. My sister is a year and half and she is starting to lose hearing in her right ear. My mother was trying to find ways to help my sister and I but we were contently denied. My mother has two jobs and my dad has three, I always see them come home late, and they look tired. They are trying to help us but, it is not their fault that this is happening to Maddie and I. Hope that IS all my mother wants, HOPE.

Dear Diary,
Today may have been the worst, Maddie completely lost her hearing in her right ear. Which means she can only hear out of her left ear. To make matters worse she is having tons of ear infections in her left ear, which happened to me before going deaf. I have been having horrible headaches recently, and I have no idea why. I have no hope, and the doctor says if we don't get improved for hearing aids soon, we might as well wait, for never. I hate waiting, I hate even thinking about my little sister having to go through my experience even younger than I. I have to go, pray for my sister please!
