Chapter 2 - Two months earlier
The sun was just creeping up over the horizon, casting an unearthly glow over everything in the street. The only living thing on the street was a black alleycat slinking along the edge of a garden fence, which quickly disappeared out of sight. I looked around, there was definitely nobody else around. My phone rang from inside my coat pocket, suddenly breaking the silence. I pulled it out, checking the caller I.D. Unknown number?
I thought to myself, wondering who it could've been. I flipped up the screen and held it up to my ear. "Yeah?" "Shane. Didn't think you'd show up." I gulped. "Let go," I struggled, trying to get free, but his grip was strong, there was no way it would even loosen. He shoved me into the back seat of the car and slammed the door, leaving me in darkness. The engine revved and the car sped off at an immense speed. "Wh-what's going on?" I slammed my fist against the window, but there was no reply.
