There is SO much gun violence now-a-days! Everywhere I go there is another story of a person being shot dead! Just a few days ago in my (cookie cutter, suburban "perfect") town, there was a shooting and a 23-year-old guy was killed. My brothers were mutual friends with him and he was such a great guy! I am so fed up with this gun violence!
GUNS NEED TO BE BANNED!
Honestly, I think civilians don't need guns! I think only police officers and army guys and security people need guns. I know you are all thinking "Law enforcement people can kill others too!" but at least this will lessen the chance of gun violence.

If it's not gun violence, it's some other kind of violence.

I don't think guns should be banned. Not everyone uses guns for doing bad things.

I think that maybe when you go target shooting or hunting the place should be government owned and they have a license to provide guns for you while you are there smile

just an idea, I don't know if it would actually work in real life

It is my strong belief that any nations government that is armed more than its citizens leads to nothing good.
I have no intentions of surrendering myself to my government. Why? Because they serve me. Not the other way around.
They represent me, not the other way around.
I defend myself, not rely on the government to "protect me".

I, do not go to sleep at night feeling "safe" that my "Government" (Police included) will protect me. I go to sleep at night knowing that I'm safe because I have been taught by my father how to use firearms responsibly, and how to defend myself.

I'd also like to retain my gun rights (Which will not be stripped from me without a fight), because the 2nd Amendment is what really and truly protects us from a tyranical government. Along with the 1st (Peaceful means), 10ths (Separatism/ Nullification) and.. Well... The 2nd (Force) amendments.

This is what I believe, and what I will stand by. Life or death. A great American ideal is to have free thought, and you are free to believe whatever you want just as I will.

i don't understand, if no other citizens had a gun what would you need to protect yourself from?

My government and whoever attempts to steal from me. The realistic vision is, there will always be someone there trying to steal and mess with you. All we need to do is give our government a chance, they can, and will do more than you might see is realistic. I do not trust my government, and I trust my military to an extent.

I say "My", because it is yours as well. The government serves us. In the U.S anyway. (Typo)

I understand why you might need to protect yourself from your government if you lived in other certain countries, but as far as I'm concerned the U.S. government has given me no reason to think that they will go around killing innocent people. I don't (and I don't believe I ever will) see a reason for people to have guns in their possession. I also know that trying to take people's guns away from them is an unrealistic goal. I think the best thing to do right now is to just have thorough backround checks on anyone who buys a gun, and to make the unauthorized personal selling of guns a federal crime. But to each to his own (: goodbye, and nice talking to you.
