And even then, people were killed over religion. They still are.

Well, religion is a driving factor in forcing people to do things. However, this is The Land of The Free. Our country has citizens of all different religions, and all different races and cultures. Singling one belief out and allowing that to govern the choices of our country, would be unfair. So that Is why we have Separation of Church and State.

I guess that relates. Anything to add?
